GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The IRS and SSA began accepting 1099, W-2, and 94x forms for the 2025 tax season on Jan. 5, introducing cash tip and overtime reporting under the One, Big, Beautiful Bill. Local employers must file electronically by Feb. 2 and on paper by Feb. 28 (SSA) or Mar. 31 (IRS).  Here Rock Hill

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Primo Investments announced a $30 million project to build two upscale hotels near I-77 at 1505 and 1515 Riverchase Blvd. The development will add 237 rooms + create about 50 jobs and will break ground this summer for completion within two years.  Here Rock Hill

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Panthers will host the Rams in the playoffs on Saturday after winning the NFC South last weekend with a three-way tiebreaker over the Falcons and Buccaneers. Coach Dave Canales said his team will focus on playing strong in their second meeting with the Rams.  WSOC-TV
  • Winthrop center Logan Duncomb was named Big South Conference Player of the Week after averaging 26 points and 11.5 rebounds, including a career-high (31 points and 13 rebounds) against Longwood. This is his second honor this season, one not seen from an Eagle since 2021–22.  Here Rock Hill
