- ➤ Bethel Shelters in Rock Hill reported a rise in shelter stays last year with day stays growing from 22,000 to 28,000 and night stays from 17,000 to 25,000 as more people needed help. Executive director Emily Sutton said high rent and lack of affordable housing drove the increase while the city council passed an ordinance to end indefinite hotel stays and the shelter joined local partners to support rapid rehousing programs.
