  • Former finance worker Jennifer Denise Farmer was terminated from Oakdale Baptist Church on March 14 after she was accused of embezzling over $30,000 by breaching trust and committing computer crime, reportedly deleting files to cover up her actions as legal proceedings continue.  Here Rock Hill
  • At around 3 a.m. on Commonwealth Court, police arrested 18-year-old Simon M. Welch for first-degree burglary and cocaine possession after the home's residents fled in fear—he remains in custody with bail denied.  Here Rock Hill

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Rock Hill School Board voted to keep mental health counselors in schools after budget cuts threatened these critical roles, showing strong community support. Interim superintendent John Jones is working on funding plans using Medicaid for eight of the positions — with the district funding the remaining two to keep student services available.  Here Rock Hill
  • Terano Nelson filed a lawsuit against York Preparatory Academy alleging his Black son faced bullying and racial slurs during the 2022-23 school year that led to physical illness and personality changes, and he seeks compensation along with policy changes to prevent further discrimination.
