  • Big Lots reopened nine stores last week under new ownership as part of its post-bankruptcy revival and dozens more will open in two waves in May—starting with the Rock Hill store at 2349 Cherry Road Ste 79 opening May 1 and additional locations on May 15.  Queen City News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Julie Holmes of Indian Land was crowned Mrs. South Carolina 2025 & will represent the state at the national Mrs. America competition livestreamed from Las Vegas. Holmes, who lives with her husband Greg and their three children, said she plans to support the Ronald McDonald House and inspire other women to embrace new challenges.  WRHI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Rock Hill City Council voted to rezone 215 acres from a planned Carolina Panthers practice facility to attract high-paying jobs and investments in light manufacturing and warehousing—interest has already come from companies in life sciences and pharmaceuticals. Mayor John Gettys said the city will work to make sure new developments meet community standards—revitalizing an important piece of land.  Here Rock Hill
  • On April 14th, the York County Planning Commission approved six proposals—covering a paving waiver in Fort Mill, two residential plats near York Highway and Adnah Church Road, and three rezoning cases on Mt Gallant Road, Highway 160 W and Corporate Blvd in Rock Hill—setting the stage for updated land use.   WRHI
