Good morning, Rock Hill.

On April 26th, 2025, runners and walkers gathered in Fort Mill's historic downtown for the South Carolina Strawberry Sprint and Stroll 5K as part of the Strawberry Festival—drawing 876 participants along a 3.1 mile route that finished at a festive Runner's Village with food trucks and live entertainment. Overall winners Matthew Tina and Kaylie Dziedzina recorded times of 16:11.8 and 19:21.7 respectively, and local age group champions also shone in the competitive race.

Standout safety J’Zavien Currence committed to the University of South Carolina’s football program after a notable career at South Pointe High School where he emerged as the top recruit in the state & among the best in the nation.

He will visit Florida State University on June 6 as he prepares for the next stage of his college career.

Over the weekend, Rock Hill hosted the adidas 3SSB Girls Live Session I where young basketball players from several states showed their skills and impressed college scouts.

Standout player Kaleena Smith scored 37 points in one game while Kate Harpring averaged 20 points even with a mask — the event at the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center boosted youth basketball exposure.
