- ➤ A bill under review in the legislature would change how short-term rental firms pay taxes by shifting the tax collection from platforms to property managers & creating a system with three tax rates. - ➤ The South Carolina Department of Public Safety and law enforcement partners began a seat belt enforcement campaign today to remind drivers to buckle up ahead of the 100 Deadly Days of Summer. Officers will focus on citing and educating both regular and commercial drivers—using new ads featuring NASCAR driver Ross Chastain—to help reduce the nearly half of fatal collisions last summer that involved unbuckled drivers.
