- ➤ Pedro Mondragon-Ramirez was charged with the murder of Leonor Alpizar, a pregnant woman fatally stabbed around 10:30 p.m. on May 16 in a mobile home on Iris Circle in Rock Hill—after fleeing the scene he was arrested the next day in Charlotte and now faces charges that include the death of her unborn child. - ➤ Rock Hill commuters face delays as both southbound lanes on Cherry Road are closed due to a tar leak from a truck spillage near Cherry Park. Authorities have rerouted traffic through the northbound lanes—cleanup continues and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes. Here Rock Hill
- ➤ York County hired Matt Davis as the new Fire Services Director. He will start in July and brings 35 years of fire service experience—including 22 years as Deputy Fire Chief at New Hanover County Fire & Rescue—to lead 16 local fire departments and County Fire staff. WRHI
