ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 54-year-old man was fatally struck at 10 p.m. on May 20 when a Ram pickup truck (followed by a Toyota RAV4) hit him while he was illegally crossing Celanese Road in Rock Hill and authorities are investigating the accident.  Here Rock Hill

CRIME NEWS

  • Death row inmate James Robertson from Rock Hill wants to represent himself so he can be executed after his best friend and four other inmates were put to death, but a federal judge has delayed his request by 45 days—appointing a lawyer to check if he understands the risks—while a psychiatric evaluation is set to take place.  WCCB Charlotte

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The South Carolina Department of Social Services has brought back the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program to help seniors get fresh produce from local farmers’ markets starting June 1—qualifying seniors must apply in person at approved local organizations using proof of age, residency, and income to receive five $10 checks.  WRHI

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Rock Hill officials unveiled two new duplexes by the Housing Development Corporation on Main Street to support individuals transitioning from homelessness. Each duplex has two bedrooms and modern amenities, will rent for $850 per month, and is expected to be occupied by June.  Here Rock Hill

SPORTS NEWS

  • York and Lancaster County high school golfers competed at the state golf championships, showing strong play in both team and individual events. Douglas McMaster of Rock Hill earned All-State honors in 5A Division 1 with a 146—Lyle Leary of Clover and standout players from Nation Ford and Indian Land also received recognition.  WRHI
  • WRHI announced teams and details for the 8th Annual Football City USA Kickoff on August 15th at District Three Stadium; new Rock Hill High coach Leon Boulware will lead his Bearcats against the Spring Valley Vikings at 5:30 p.m., with other games set for 7 and 8:30 p.m. + The event broadcast begins at 4 p.m. from the Rock Hill Coca-Cola Broadcast Center, powered by Champion Services.  WRHI
