- ➤ Food pantries across the Carolinas are under strain as USDA cuts have reduced supplies and led to fewer people being served—Champion House of Care in Charlotte saw its weekly clients drop from nearly 600 to about 300. Local leaders, including those in Rock Hill, say that with schools closing for summer, a rise in demand could force pantries to cancel holiday meals if donations do not improve. Here Rock Hill

- ➤ Carolina Ascent midfielder Jill Aguilera and goalkeeper Meagan McClelland made history by winning inaugural awards in the USL Super League (McClelland earned the Golden Glove award with 41 saves and Aguilera received the Golden Playmaker award with seven assists). Carolina finished its first season with 13 wins, 6 losses and 9 ties and will face Fort Lauderdale United FC in the semifinals on Sunday, June 8 at 7 p.m. at American Legion Memorial Stadium.
