- ➤ Winthrop University announced that longtime dance faculty member Sandra Neels, who performed with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and retired in May, passed away in early June. - ➤ Duke Energy proposed a 12.1% electricity rate increase to fund infrastructure upgrades and a new natural gas plant that will add about $74.8 million in revenue and raise residential monthly bills by roughly $21.66—from $144.85 to $166.51—beginning February 1, 2026.
