- ➤ The Catawba Nation said during a tour on June 17 that the first phase of its long-awaited casino resort in Kings Mountain is set to open in March and will feature 1,350 slot machines, 22 table games, a 40-seat restaurant, a bar and sports-betting kiosks. The full casino facility will open in February 2027 — replacing the temporary casino used since 2021 off I-85’s Exit 5. WSOC-TV
