  • 18-year-old Denarion Au’shad Gordon turned himself in on June 23 for a June 2 shooting on the 1800 block of Heather Square—he faces charges of attempted murder and firearm possession in a violent crime that injured a 33-year-old man.  Here Rock Hill

ECONOMY NEWS

  • South Carolina’s labor market grew in May as overall employment increased by over 5,000 jobs and the state’s unemployment rate dropped from 4.2% to 4.1%. In York County, where Rock Hill is located, job growth in key sectors like government & education and health services & professional services helped lower the local unemployment rate to 3.7%.  WRHI

  • Resident Culture Brewing Co. launched Above the Freya — a free five-part series to boost financial empowerment for women — that began with a budgeting session yesterday at its South End taproom at 332 W. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Rock Hill City Council unanimously approved a $313 million budget for fiscal year 2025–2026 on June 23—raising trash removal fees by $5 per month and wastewater bills by 8% while keeping property taxes and electric rates unchanged. The budget creates 10 new full‑time positions and cuts five part‑time roles to adjust staffing for rising costs.  Here Rock Hill
