Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 27th of June.
Good morning, Rock Hill.
Construction at the Silfab Solar facility in York County was paused after workers were found on site without proper permission—county officials sent a fire marshal and building inspector to address the complaint and imposed a work order stoppage until Silfab passes inspection and obtains a certificate of occupancy; the company expects to resume work soon.
Rock Hill City Council approved a $313 million budget for the 2025–26 fiscal year on June 23 — the plan keeps property taxes and electric rates steady while raising trash removal fees by $5, wastewater bills by about 8%, and sanitation fees by 3%.
The budget also adds 10 full-time positions, cuts five part-time roles, and includes measures on annexation, industrial rezoning, and state loan applications for water and sewer projects.
