- ➤ Fayat Group and Cohn Construction broke ground on their $13.7 million, 100,000 square-foot distribution center in Ridgeway on August 11 to meet the growing industrial demand in the Midlands. - ➤ At a York County court, Holly Alsobrooks met the man she says caused her son's fentanyl poisoning—her group Fentanyl Kills U helped pass a law making it a felony to possess over four grams of fentanyl and is now watching a case in which Jerry Holmes pleaded guilty to trafficking nearly 700 pills with a 15-year sentence. - ➤ On August 11, the Rock Hill City Council approved annexation and rezoning measures for the Red River Road/Commerce Drive area and for properties at 742 & 745 North Anderson Road to support an adult daycare project. The council also approved abandonment of unused utility easements on Round Hill Court—clearing way for new development—and postponed recognition for the Carolina Storm 16U Basketball Team due to scheduling conflicts. - ➤ On August 11th, the York County Planning Commission approved a parking waiver for Buffalo II Investments at 3705 McConnells Highway in Rock Hill and the preliminary plat for the Riley Cove subdivision with 27 lots on 50.56 acres— they also accepted an update from Clover School District on its capital improvement plan and recommended six rezoning changes for properties in Rock Hill and nearby areas.
