- ➤ Gov. McMaster declared a state of emergency Friday as a tropical system moved off the coast of Cuba — it is set to become Tropical Depression Imelda by tomorrow and may bring heavy rain, strong winds and flooding to the Carolinas. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ MUSC broke ground Friday in Indian Land for a new hospital and a medical pavilion on 84 acres at 9280 Charlotte Highway, a half-mile south of Marvin Road. The pavilion will open in 2026 and the hospital will start in 2027 to offer services (including OB-GYN, orthopedics, and cardiology) that may reduce the need for local residents to seek care across the state line.
