  • The community honored Carol Williams, an 84-year-old insurance agent who retired after 64 years, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church when a viral social media post boosted the turnout from a small gathering. Williams now plans to spend more time with family—after losing his wife.  Here Rock Hill
  • Rock Hill is hosting a series of community engagement events this week to strengthen bonds between residents and local law enforcement—National Night Out is occurring tonight, the Chief’s Prayer Breakfast with Dr. Laymon Hicks is set for Friday morning at the Historic Lowenstein Building, and the Faith & Blue event will take place Saturday afternoon at the Emmett Scott Center.   • Proposals to build data centers are emerging in Uptown as local developers plan new projects—officials will review their impact before any final decision is made.  Queen City News
  • Wills Group is expanding its Dash In convenience store chain with contracts for 16 new locations across the Carolinas, including 2 in South Carolina, to meet growing local demand. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Micah Mallace has been named the new president and CEO of the South Carolina State Ports Authority by a unanimous board vote on October 6 following Barbara Melvin’s resignation in August. He will start his five year contract on October 13 and will deliver the State of the Port address on October 28 to present future strategies for port improvements — his background in global logistics and record in building commercial partnerships support his vision.  Here Rock Hill
