  • South Carolina Research Authority welcomed two new member companies, GrAIded and SimXity AERO, which offer AI solutions for academic admissions and aviation training. It also awarded $25,000 startup grants to four firms to boost local technology and healthcare projects.  Here Rock Hill
  • R2P Innovations LLC was named South Carolina’s fastest-growing company at a luncheon on October 7 in Columbia as part of the state’s 50 Fastest Growing Companies competition— the company grew its revenue by nearly 20,000% from 2021 to 2024 while making bulletproof doors for school safety.  Here Rock Hill

ECONOMY NEWS

  • TTI announced plans to relocate its North American floorcare division from Charlotte to Anderson to boost the local economy with a planned $500 million investment— the company will gradually move 1,200 workers and create 525 new jobs as part of its expansion, with the move set to conclude by June 1, 2026.  Here Rock Hill

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Winthrop University today introduced new support initiatives that include extra tutoring, enhanced advising, and more mental health services to help students with their studies—these programs will guide students as they work to achieve academic success.  Here Rock Hill

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On October 9, 2025—Rock Hill experienced clear, dry fall weather with sunny skies, temperatures from 46°F to 69°F, and a gentle breeze that made it ideal for picnics and park strolls; residents enjoyed the perfect conditions of a crisp autumn day.  Here Rock Hill
  • Drought conditions are expanding in North and South Carolina, with parts of South Carolina now classified as moderate drought and forecasts showing below normal rainfall until mid-October—heightening wildfire risks. The dry trend is being tracked weekly as residents brace for an extended period without significant rain.  WSOC-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, families of murder victims and prosecutors met at the Moss Justice Center in York County to ask for changes in the judicial and mental health systems after failures allowed dangerous offenders to remain at large — Stephen Federico, who lost his daughter, joined the call for urgent reform.  Here Rock Hill

  • Rock Hill is hosting the 2025 United States Disc Golf Championship at Winthrop University after more than 20 years away.   • Keenan High School welcomed new quarterback Cam McMillon, who transferred from South Pointe amid playoff eligibility controversy and must sit out for 30 days before he can return in the final two regular-season games after October 11—his hardship exemption was denied by the S.C.
