EDUCATION NEWS

  • ➤ South Carolina public school librarians and students filed a lawsuit on October 7 to challenge a regulation banning books with sexual content from kindergarten through 12th grade and a memo limiting classroom topics. The ACLU filed the suit on behalf of the South Carolina Association of School Librarians and three minor students, arguing that the rules violate the First and Fourteenth Amendments — no response has been received from state officials.  Queen City News

  • ➤ On October 11, UNC Asheville volleyball lost to Winthrop in straight sets with scores of 22–25, 21–25, and 20–25—dropping their record to 6–12 overall and 3–2 in Big South play. Kylie Cackovic led with 8 kills and the Bulldogs will face High Point on October 17 and Radford on October 18 to improve their standing.  Here Rock Hill
