  • Riverstone Logistics plans to relocate its operations from Charlotte to The Thread in Rock Hill, creating 74 new jobs (46 transferred from North Carolina and 28 additional) with an average hourly wage of $55.36. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • York County Council approved a $25 million tax incentive today to attract a Costco distribution center on a 168-acre site near Interstate 77 and Porter Road in Rock Hill; the project will begin in 2027, create 165 jobs, and serve 20 stores (Panattoni will manage two-phase construction).  Here Rock Hill

HEALTH NEWS

  • Atrium Health received unanimous approval to invest $450 million in a new hospital campus in Fort Mill. The 200,000 sqft facility will include 60 beds, four operating rooms, and 15 emergency bays, with construction set to begin in 2026 and services expected by mid-2029.  Here Rock Hill

  • South Carolina and Clemson secured key recruiting commitments on National Signing Day today in Rock Hill—local athletes pledged to join the 2026 classes, strengthening both teams and reflecting a strong regional talent pool.  Here Rock Hill
  • At Winthrop Coliseum today, the Winthrop University women's basketball team beat Johnson & Wales 105 to 41 with key plays by Tocarra Johnson, Amourie Porter, and Mya Pierfax. They will host UNC Wilmington on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.  Here Rock Hill
  • The Rock Hill Bearcats defeated the Chester Cyclones with a final score of 119 to 104 on December 3 at Rock Hill High School. Junior guard J Jefferson scored 24 points while senior forward M Momcilovic added 27 points.  Here Rock Hill
  • South Carolina Gamecocks offensive lineman Nick Sharpe entered the NCAA transfer portal and will seek opportunities when the portal opens January 2 (with one year of eligibility remaining); he played nine games last season and coaches secured recruits Darius Gray and Anthony Baxter to strengthen the offensive line for 2026.  Here Rock Hill
