Good morning, Rock Hill.

Rock Hill is preparing for the second annual Tour of Homes in conjunction with the Come-See-Me Festival — featuring eight properties including two key women’s shelters — with all proceeds supporting a nonprofit that aids women facing homelessness.

The event will run today and tomorrow.

Two deadly fires claimed the life of 40-year-old Eba Gilmore at the Piedmont Medical Center and the lives of 63-year-old Sammylee Roseborough and his 9-year-old daughter Simaya, a third-grade student at Ebinport Elementary, and Rock Hill residents rallied to support the grieving family (with school counseling available) as authorities continue to investigate the fires (cause remains unknown).

A house fire in Rock Hill claimed the lives of a 9-year-old girl and her father early Friday morning and left the community and Ebinport Elementary School grieving as firefighters responded around 7:30 a.m.—the investigation continues to determine the cause while support services and fundraisers assist the grieving family.

Castle Heights Middle School teacher Doug MacAlpine was arrested twice (on March 31 and April 9) on charges including possession of child sexual abuse material and recording a staff member without consent and is now in custody as investigators review evidence.
