Good morning, Rock Hill.
An artist known for creating Disney Traditions and Heartwood Creek folk art figurines bought a building at 109 Hampton Street in downtown Rock Hill’s historic district for $1.4 million, and Rock Hill Mayor John Gettys joined him at a press conference on August 26 while the 22,000-square-foot property will become the Jim Shore Museum Experience and Gift Shop opening next year.
As hurricane season begins, Rock Hill residents should know that standard homeowners and renters insurance does not cover flooding — separate flood insurance must be purchased, takes 30 days to become effective, and covers up to $250,000 for a home and $100,000 for belongings.
Residents are advised to review policy deductibles because flood insurance is available to anyone regardless of location.
The mayor has called a special meeting of the Metropolitan Transit Commission to discuss plans for improving local transit.
Officials will share more details on the meeting's agenda and schedule soon.
